Southeast State Project

October 14th, 2008

All students have been assigned a state from the Southeast to report on. They are doing research in school. In addition, they must make a poster of the state they were assigned. Here are the requirements.

___ Large poster on poster board

___ Title – state name large and clear

___ Map – include capital, major bodies of water including rivers,
major cities

___Map key

___State tree – title, drawing, and label

___State flag – title, drawing, and label

___State flower – title, drawing, and label

___State bird – title, drawing, and label

___Neat

___Spelling and grammar correct

___Your name on the lower corner

Due date: Monday, October 27

PS Research paper must be turned in also.

Spelling: No spelling lesson this week due to short school week.

Math: Inv 3, worksheet for homework T - Lesson 32 W - L33

Religion: Chapter 4 test in school on Wednesday.

Social Studies: Continue to study the locations and capitals of the Southeast states. Test is on Wed, Oct 22.

Science: Chapter 1A test is in school on Tuesday, Oct 21

Picture Day: Wed, Oct 15. Out of uniform day.

Break: No school on Thursday or Friday. MEA break.

Rakeathon: Tshirts can be worn on Monday with uniform pants.

Conferences: Monday, Oct 13 and Tuesday, Oct 14. Schedule was sent home on Friday. Email or call if questions.

Spelling: Lesson 6 Review All students do pages 24, 25, 26, and 27. The workbook is due on Wednesday. The review test will be on Thursday.

Math: M - L28 T - L29 W - L30 Th - Test, worksheet for homework F - Investigation 3, worksheet for homework

Spanish: Spanish test on lesson 4 and 5 on Tuesday. Students who bring a signed paper indicating that a parent reviewed with them will get extra points on their test.

Religion: The chapter 3 test is a take-home test. Students may use their books and have parent assistance. Essay questions must be answered in complete sentences. The test is due on Wednesday, Oct. 8

Social Studies: Continue to study the SE states and capitals. See separate post for study material. The test will be Wednesday, October 22.

Rake-a-thon: Shirts may be worn on Mondays in October and the first Monday in November.

Green and White Day: Thursday, October 9.

Mass: Our first fourth grade mass is on Friday, October 10. Please join us if you’re able.

Reading: Record at-home reading minutes on the October reading record.

Fund Raiser:  CiCi’s Pizza on Tuesday, October 7 from 11am - 9pm.  15% comes back to the school.  4845 Nathan Lane in Plymouth.

Spelling: Lesson 5 Standard group does p. 20, 21, and 22. Challenge group does p. 23. Part I should be done on paper. They also have to do three challenge activities. Challenge words are: until, vacuum, whether, accident, category, flames, gently, hollow, modern and watched.

Math: M - L24 T - L25 W - Test, worksheet for homework Th - L26 F - L27

Reading: The at-home September reading record is due this Wednesday, Oct. 1  The new one for October will be sent home.  Reminder - this is only to record minutes read at home.

Religion: Wednesday is the Chapter 2 test at school. Please study. The concepts that need to be reviewed are in a separate post.

Spirit Day: Tuesday, September 30 is Spirit Day. Students may dress in green and white.

Social Studies:  Begin to study the location and capitals of the Southeast states.  Two study guides were made in school. One is for school.  One is for home.  The test will be in a few weeks.  I’ll give you an exact date soon.

What a gorgeous weekend we had.  I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did.

Spelling: Lesson 4 Standard group does p. 16, 17 and 18. Challenge group does p. 19. Part I on p. 19 should be written on a separate piece of paper. Challenge group also does the challenge activities. See the separate post for information and forms. Work is due on Wednesday. Test is on Thursday. Challenge words: pirate, tissue, surprised, wives, simple, perseverance, questionnaire, receive, schedule, twelfth.

Math: M - L20 T - Investigation 2, worksheet for homework W - L21 Th - L22 F - L23

Reading:  Continue to record at-home reading.  The September record is due next Wednesday.  This week we’ll begin a novel study on Charlotte’s Web.

Science: Cell Quiz is on Wednesday this week. See separate post for study games. Students also filled out and should have brought home a study guide. If your child is doing the Super Scientist listed on the study guide, please send a signed note that they looked up the extra information. Thanks.

Religion: The chapter one take-home test is due today. The chapter two test will be an in-school test. I’ll post a study guide. The test will be next Wednesday, Oct. 1.

Science - Cell Quiz

Our cell quiz is scheduled for Wednesday, September 24. Please study all of the functions of the cell parts of a plant and animal cell. Also, be sure to know which two parts are only found in plant cells.
