There’s nothing like a cold spell to make 2o or 30 degrees feel balmy. It is so nice to have this heat spell! Hope you enjoyed your weekend. Here’s this week’s homework:

Spelling: Lesson 21 Standard group does p. 84-86. Challenge group does p. 87. Challenge words are: coffee, turf, bothered, title, turkey, immediately, individual, journal, judgement, league. Homework due Wednesday. Test on Thursday.

Math: M - L78 T - L79 W - Supplemental L80 Th - L80 F - Test, worksheet for homework

Reading: The February Reading Record is due next Monday, March 3.

Social Studies: Begin to study the Midwest states and capitals. A study guide will be sent home today. The test will be around the middle of March. The exact date will be determined later.

Science: Matter test will be next week on Thursday, March 6.

Conferences: Conferences are next week on Tuesday, March 4 and Thursday, March 6. I will send the schedule out on an email. Please confirm your time with me.

Spelling: Lesson 19.  Standard group does p. 76-78.  Challenge group does p. 79.  Challenge words are: magnet, canned, striking, oddly, dwellings, dairy, dangerous, either, familiar, fountain.

Math: M - L72  T - L73  W - L74  Th - L75  F - Test, WS for homework

Religion:  Chapter 12 test in school next Tuesday, Feb. 19.  A study guide will be posted soon.

Reading:  We are starting to read biographies today.  Half the class will read about Martin Luther King and the other half about Harriet Tubman.  Then we’ll switch the groups.

Social Studies:  The state projects were wonderful.  Thanks for your help and support on those.

Science:  We’ll finish up a unit on matter this week.  Information about the test will be posted next week.

Thursday:  Valentine’s Day is Thursday.  It’s red and pink day.  We’ll have a party in the afternoon.  Students will exchange Valentines and treats if they wish.  We’ll have a small snack and maybe games or a video.

Lent:  We are doing stations of the cross here at school for a few weeks.  The stations have been posted on the classroom doors.  After that we’ll attend stations at church on Friday afternooons.

Holiday:  Monday is President’s Day.  There is no school.

Hope you enjoyed the Super Bowl. Even if you’re like me, and not a football fan, you can still enjoy the parties and the commercials. Here’s this week’s homework:

Math: M - supplemental L 68 T - L 69 W - L70 Th - Test, WS for homework F - Investigation, WS for homework

Spelling: Lesson 18 Review week. All students do pages 72 - 75 Homework due Wed. Test on Thurs.

Religion: Take home test is due on Thursday (7th).

Social Studies: State project is due Tuesday (5th). That includes the map and the 3 page research report. Research was done at school.

Reading: We are finishing up our BFG novel this week. Some of the work may have to be completed at home. Return January reading record if you haven’t yet.

Report Cards: Return signed report card envelopes if you have not already done so.

Wednesday:  Ash Wednesday mass at 8:15

Thursday:  Green and White Day
