October 22nd, 2007

I hope you all had a nice long weekend.

Here’s the scoop for the week:

Spelling: Lesson 7 Standard group does workbook p. 28, 29, 30 Challenge group does p. 31 (including the writing) and the challenge worksheet (not the writing). In addition the challenge group is required to make a word game with the challenge words. It can be a crossword or wordsearch. They can make it and print it at Discovery Puzzle Maker on the web. It’s listed on my delicious site. Challenge words: cottage, sandal, throughout, sudden, taxes, discipline, equipment, grateful, height, immediate

Math: M - L28 T - L29 W - L30 Th - Test day, worksheet for homework F- Investigation 3, worksheet for homework

Religion: We are finishing up chapter 4. A study guide will be posted this week. Test is in school on Tuesday, Oct 30.

Social Studies: The Southwest States and Capitals test is next Wednesday, Oct. 31. Study guides have been sent home.

Rake-a-thon: The Rake-a-thon is this Friday after Mass. It would be helpful if parents could drop students off with rakes. Listen to the weather forecast for how to dress.

Halloween: Fourth graders do not dress in costume for Halloween, but we will have a party. We’ll have a treat and watch a video. If any of you want to volunteer to send treats, let me know. I’ll send an email request soon.

End of Quarter: The end of the first quarter is quickly approaching. That means I will have taken the majority of the grades by this Friday. Please check online grades to see if your child has anything missing. I will take late work through this Friday. Next week I will include a few test scores on 1st quarter also - like the s.studies test.  The quarter officially ends on Thursday, Nov.2.  No school on Friday, Nov. 3.

Book Sale:  Sister Therese Ann is having a used book sale this Wednesday. Proceeds go to support her order’s work in Africa.  Books are 25 cents each or 5/$1.

Have a good week.
