Weekly News 10/1
I acquired a “bunch” of new books for our classroom library this summer. Thanks to Mrs. Jacobsen and Mrs. Byers for labeling them with AR information. I’ve purchased a new book shelf, so we’re getting the books all nicely organized. There are now many reading choices in our room, as well as the school and public library. I’ll be writing a post about AR this week sometime. Look for it.
Here’s homework for the week:
Math:
M - L18 T - Test, worksheet for homework W - L19 Th - L20 F - Inv 2, worksheet for homework
Just a note that a few students are getting careless about homework. Anyone who has 6 or more problems wrong has to go back and correct the errors. Even if homework gets done in school, it’s a good idea to have them bring it home and check it over when you have time. Thanks.
Spelling:
Lesson 5 - Standard group is workbook pg. 20-22.
Challenge group is workbook pg. 23 and challenge worksheet. They do not have to do the writing on the bottom of the challenge sheet. They do have to do the writing on pg. 23, part I (on a separate piece of paper) Challenge words are: flames, gently, hollow, modern, watched, until, vacuum, believe, accident, category.
As always the work is due on Wednesday and the test is on Thursday.
Reading - The at-home reading record was due today. They have one more day to turn it in without a penalty. New records will be sent home for October. This is an important part of the reading grade. Reminder to add up the minutes and sign them before returning to school. The requirement for October is 400 minutes. That’s 20 minutes per night for 5 days a week.
Science - we are finishing chapter one currently. We’ll be doing the review soon. There will be a test but not until the end of next week. I’ll let you know the exact date. It would be a good idea to start reviewing the concepts from the chapter review.
Religion - there is an in-school chapter 2 test on Tuesday (tomorrow). Study guide has been posted.
Book Orders - book orders are due this week by Thursday morning. Please make any checks out to Scholastic.
Art Adventure - this programs starts on Friday. Thanks to Mrs. Hinds for helping us out this year.
Grades - grades are posted at least once a week, sometimes more. Be sure to check them regularly. Let me know if you have questions. Sometimes errors can be made even though I try not to let that happen. If an assignment has not been turned in, it will say missing. Sometimes it’s because a student was absent and hasn’t turned in make up work yet. Sometimes it’s because they didn’t finish something.
Thanks for all of your support and involvement. Have a super week.
