Girl Scouts RV service project

April 16th, 2008

River Valleys is sponsoring a service project-Pajama Tales:  collecting new books and pajamas for children who don’t have any.  Collection drop off is starting April 21-27th.  Check out the flyer at www.girlscoutsrv.org

Should we do this as an all troop service project?

TROOP TO TROOP COOKIE CONNECTION

March 12th, 2008

An opportunity to participate in a service project to send girl scout cookies to MN Nat’l Guard units stationed in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Kosovo.  From March 20-March 22 only, girls/troops may collect donations for cookie connection (much like cookie share, except all of these will go to the MN Nat’l Guard) either door to door or at cookie shops scheduled for that weekend.  (I have sent an email to the contact person at the council about the choice of weekend–Easter–and about not including the earlier part of the week when girls may be delivering reorders).

Troop cookie managers need to place orders by March 25.  Questions?  Contact your troop leader or visit www.girlscoutsrv.org

Hospitality

February 26th, 2008

Thank you to all who helped with Hospitality on Sunday.  The chairs were happy that we could step up on such short notice! It went well!

Hospitality Update

February 21st, 2008

Hospitality is fast approaching!

Girls should wear their vests/sashes.

We need parents as well as girls.

We will be selling cookies.  I will have them there that morning along with a cashbox and change.  Should we run out of any types of cookies, I will have an order blank available.  Troops will sell at the time slot they are serving hospitality.  The packages sold will be divided between the troops participating.

Please have your girls (or leader/parent) sign in on the sheet provided indicating the number of girls in attendance.  You may also purchase patches for $1 each  if you’d like.  There are two to choose from–order one or both.  You can indicate that on the sign in sheet as well.  There will be a box provided for payment.

The schedule is as follows:

8:00-9:30  Troops 10215 (8th) & 10943 (3rd)  Donuts arrive at 7:45.

9:30-11:00 Troops 12682 (1st) & 10183 (4th)

11:00-12:30  Troops 11000 (2nd)  &  10205 (5th)  & 13254 (K-some)

See you on Sunday.

Blog Update

January 23rd, 2008

I discovered something really cool! Each troop can have their own page where info that pertains just to their troop will be posted, such as meeting dates, reminders, and so on! You will find your page listed under Pages on the right hand side of the blog.
This main page I will use for updates about service unit events, school events–things that pertain to all troops.

COOKIES!

January 16th, 2008

GO! Day is Saturday, Jan. 19.  Please do not sell before then! (Daisies do not sell cookies).

GSUSA says the following about internet sales:  “Individual Girl Scouts (and/or parents/family), Girl Scout troops, and Girl Scout councils should not sell Girl Scout Cookies on any web sites, online auctions or in any broadcast email messages.  Girls may use (individual) email to promote the cookie activity to family and friends.

We have a new cookie baker so some names are different and some cookies are different:

Thin Mints, Tagalongs (formerly Peanut Butter Patties), Samoas (formerly Caramel DeLites), Trefoils(formerly Shortbread),  Do-Si-Dos (formerly Peanut Butter Sandwich), All Abouts (vanilla cookie w/chocolate coating on bottom), Sugar Free Chocolate Chip, Lemon Chalet Cremes (vanilla sandwich with a hint of cinnamon-ginger spice and a lemon filling).

BE SAFE!

  1. Show you’re a Girl Scout-wear your membership pin/vest/sash.
  2. Buddy Up-Brownie/Junior scouts must be accompanied by an adult when selling, delivering cookies.   Scouts 11-17 must be supervised by an adult and may not sell alone.
  3. Sell during the daytime.
  4. Protect-Girls’ names, addresses or emails should never given out to customers.  Give troop number and an approved adult phone number/email for order/info requests.
  5. Follow the rules of the road when selling or delivering cookies.
